Mealworms in the Classroom

We have been raising mealworms in order to study life cycles! The kids are completely fascinated with the mealworms! i will post some pics of their containers soon! I already posted some pics of our bulletin board display! I created a huge packet to use with mealworms for only $9.00! Check it out!  It is pretty cheap to buy the materials needed and the kids are totally engaged in the project!  I have gotten some great writing and science out of them during this project!

I found a great book on Amazon to use as well!  Click here for the link!

Teacher Appreciation Sale

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and Sunday, May 6th is sure to be your lucky day! It marks the launch of the Teacher Appreciation Jackpot, a “blog hop” event involving over 130 bloggers!

We want to say how much we appreciate you in a BIG way, so each of us has agreed to give away one of our TeachersPayTeachers products for free as our contribution to the blog hop. Each product will be valued between $3 and $8, so the total jackpot is estimated to be worth over $500! We’ll post the actual amount on Satuday, May 5th.

Because so many bloggers are participating, this event will be divided into three grade level groups. Each of these events is being coordinated by one blogger as follows:

PK-Grade 2—April McNair at her blog A Modern Teacher
Grades 3-6—at Laura Candler’s Corkboard Connections
Grades 7-12—hosted by Adrianne Meldrum on The Tutor House

Details are still being worked out, so be sure to check back each day this week as the events unfold.

We really appreciate all that you do!

TeachersPayTeachers is showing appreciation for educators this week by offering 10% off all products from today through Tuesday. In addition, I’m offering 20% more off everything in my own TeachersPayTeachers store! After you download your freebies, I hope you’ll come back and shop later to save on great teaching resources!

Look below to find links to over three dozen terrific Grade 3-6 blogs where you can download your free gifts! We appreciate your commitment to your students and your dedication as an educator! Thanks so much for all you do!

The item I have for FREE can be found here!    It is a great packet of activities to do using gummy bears!  Enjoy!  Don’t forget to visit the other participants to see what goodies they have to offer today!

Using Mealworms to Study Life Cycles

We have been reviewing life cycles in class using mealworms. These are a quick and easy way to study the complete metamorphosis of the darkling beetle. We got the mealworms at the pet store. I created a HUGE mealworm packet to use during this unit! Click here to see the packet on
